Height of selfishness

August 31, 2010

All the channels today are airing one news only

BIG B disturbed over the metro as it will be an intrusion to his privacy.

The second phase of Metro may pass near his bungalow so it may disturb his privacy

Last year it was the nightingale of India who had raised her voice against the flyover which was to pass near her flat

These big shots never raised their voices against other fly overs or the metro on different routes. They must not have given it a thought also that the new flyovers or rail lines can affect the privacy of other citizens also.

Why should they bother after all it doesn’t concern them.

I am sure if someone had raised his voice against such work these celebrities would have been the first ones to criticize those citizens in the name of development and their being selfish and putting self over the welfare of Lakhs.

But now when they are in those shoes they are feeling the pinch.

Have they ever given a thought on how thousands of poor/common/middle class people get effected when some new construction in the name of progress and development takes place

Has the Big B ever considered how the business of so many shopkeepers has come to a standstill because of the metro work going on in Mumbai?

He must have crossed the Shaan flyover at least once. Did he ever for a second pondered over how close the flyover runs near the balconies of nearby flats? One can easily peep inside the rooms of people.

Is it not intrusion on the privacy of common people?

Why should it bother him?

Moreover even now they have issues only against the new constructions near their house. They don’t and won’t mind if it is constructed somewhere else and the route is diverted.

Lakhs of gullible people treat these celebrities as their ideals and this is the example these ambassadors of various brands of our country are setting?

If they are so much bothered about their privacy they should go to some remote corner of the world where no one will take a look at them and they can secure their privacy.

But then they will not like it because it is the common man who has given them this status. Without the fans they are nothing.

It is like eating and having the cake both. They want the fans, they seek the adulation of the public but they want their privacy.

Endorsement by celebrities is a sure way of increasing the usage of consumer products. These celebrities are used to promote various products because the manufacturer knows that people will listen to them, they will treat them as their examples and will do what these people are doing

So won’t the common man follow these people and do the same.

Imagine what will happen when thousands of people will stand and stop various works of development in the name of intrusion on their privacy.

All these celebrities talk about country, patriotism, helping people. They motivate people to put the country, its progress /development/ welfare first.

but when it comes to practicing what they preach it is a totally different story.

if this is not being selfish ,self centered then what else will be????

I really feel that Amitabh bachan is one of the many stars who hasn’t done his bit for the society yet. When the society puts u on such a high pedestal, it is your responsibility to give back.

One would expect a so-called-legend like him to do some good work. but he is just too busy making money by doing endorsing everything under the sun. The only place he seems to be donating is in the temples and publicizes it nonetheless and gets good tax benefits out of it.

Thats all… don’t expect him to think about others at all.

he is the one who by his “Darshan” creates a chaos in Juhu.

As long as it doesn’t run through his property, I don’t think he has any right to complain.

That’s what happen when you watch too much of news channels. We often forget that celebrities are also human being. And what he wrote on his blog is general concern as fellow citizen. There was no need to take reactions from gov and other people.

If some construction work happens next to my house, even I will crib about that on my blog. Big deal? Cant a celebrity raise his concerns? It doesn’t mean he should go and support every person who has problem with gov’s construction work.

It is normal human psychology, not only with Amitabh or Lata but every one affected by road widening, flyover etc start making hue and cry as if only THEY are affected. Large interest of public (which includes them ) becomes secondary.

neha has exactly echoed my thoughts..AB is the most selfish actor I have seen..though in India today’s wealthy people are not like Tatas and Birlas, who dso so much for the society, they make their own palaces only.

Who would not like free publicity?AB has played his political card so well–now wait and watch as to how different parties will fight for and against his appeal. He will remain in the news for long now.

    @ Bhagwad Jal Park , B K CHOWLA ,S.R.Ayyangar , Renu, Neha, allthecrap,
thanx for your views and reflections
I do agree with allthecrap that any one would comment or crib if such a thing will happen. but as he is a celebrity and people look upon him so what ever he says hits the lime light and people take that as gospel truth.
so these people should weigh their words and views before they air them

Have you read what he has written? Its not offensive at all.

And it isn’t worth the lime light it got. (Including this blog)

And your post title is downright unjustifiable “height of selfishness” , Whats the difference between so called “Breaking News” and title of this post? Catch the viewers attention?

    thanx for your comments
i realized today that i cannot be a good reporter
because i in my one of the impulsive moods just heard what the media was saying without verifying the facts or actually reading the blog
but like you i also read his comments today and realized that how wrong i was.
even i would have made a similar comment if I was in his shoes
my apologies to him and his fans
    thanx once again

Great article. And very true indeed. The bottomline is that its only the Upper Class or the Middle class who is concerned about personal privacy issues without even bothering to think about the 500 million people who dont even have access to toilets, let alone proper homes.
