Is this justice
After 26 years the verdict has been given on Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
26 years for the Judiciary to take the matter on board, to decide what punishment should be given to the accused. And I feel like laughing at the justice done by our judiciary. 2 years imprisonment for all the accused (one accused is absconding and other is no more in this world)
I was surprised to hear the interview of one of the victims (a small child at that time) this man looked about 50 years old and when asked his present age he informed that he is just 30 years but due to the after effects of the Gas Leak he has aged and started looking double his age, with most of his hair gone, with lots of allergies all over his body
There’s a whole new generation, the offspring of the gas-hit, who are suffering the horrendous side effects of the disaster, from deep psychiatric disorders to stunted growth.
Will 2 years imprisonment to the accused that too after 26 years of the actual accident compensate for the damaged done?
Why did the judiciary take so long to bring the matter on board and finish all the investigations, enquiry and arrive at a judgment?
I was told today that now the accused will move Sessions court, High Court and then Supreme Court against this order
That means another round of few years for the court proceedings and the final verdict and then what will happen? the accused will get relief from the high authorities and will go scot free with no feeling of guilt on their faces only pride on their faces and the proud feeling of fooling the public and making a mockery of the whole judicial system.
The financial compensation given to the victims seems like peanuts when compared to the agony which the gas tragedy had caused.
I am sure the advocates, the mediators, the bureaucrats involved must have minted money like anything without giving any thought to the actual victims, the actual sufferers
This only proves one thing that Human life has no value; the future of so many children is of no worth to our administration to our judiciary.
Why the Human rights activists are not raising their voice against this mockery of the whole system?
This reminds of the famous dialogue of Suuny Deol “Tarik pe Tarik “
And in the end nothing comes out of the long wait
And our media has the audacity to shout “ Justice done “
Is it called as justice done?

It is a sad verdict but you and me cant do much! This isnt happening for the first time in India, the powerful few always manipulate things to their favour!
It was another black day for India and its judiciary. Judiciary has proved correct the saying
” Justice delayed is justice denied”. I was in Jabalpur MP when this incidence took place and the new generation may not be knowing the havoc the gas leak played in and around Bhopal. Many dead people arrived in trains who inhaled the gas, such was the impact!
It is all an eye wash as life has no value in In India.
Will some one find an answer to just one question i,e
ARJUN SINGH WAS THE CM THEN AND WHY DID HE ALLOW ANDERSON TO ESCAPE FROM BHOPAL IN A PVT AIRCRAFT WHILE HE WAS IN STATE’S CUSTODY?
Try and get an answer to this
There is a lot of muck around as we are being treated like idiots all the way.
Not at all… This simply shows the incompetency of our judiciary system. If it takes 26 years to bring something to justice, we might as well say good bye to everything in this world. The wait for the kins of the deceased must have been agonizing for all these year.
I am just glad that finally this is out and still more to come (I hope).
Your point is right ms anju but the basic principles of criminal procedure code are “fair trial” to the accused….and also there was no law in force which provides punishment for strict liabilty….!!!
no reason to curse judicial system…..!!!
The compensation should be exemplary….
That’s soo True !
I know you must be feeling helpless just like me.
I hate our present government.. They care for nothing.
If people really want to write anything meaningful and really make people aware of the facts then you must see this video and try to spread it to all fellow Indians so that something better can be done….

its justice delayed denied and pathetic and some more
Hi Anju, I am from Bhopal, though thankfully i was not in the gas affected area during that time. but I have seen how the people have been affected by the tragedy..Worst of all the groundwater of Bhopal has been contaminated once n for all..But i never had hope that convicts will be brought to justice as a case which takes 26 years will hardly bring justice..Also the mere compensation that has been given by company hasn’t completely reached people, the politicians and bureaucrats ate a big chunk..At these time i feel so helpless and cheated..
Anju,
Got your link from your comment at a blog. Read all current posts. On expectations, I agree that it does affect relationships but to counter that one needs to have clear two way logical communication with all. We do have habit of placing old idols at place consicered safe and pious. We do need to think for alternatives to that. Yes, we all are hypocrites at some stage or the other. Give my love to Neha and Ujjwal. Agony Aunt trend inspires some people to write all rubbish. In case of marital problems it is duty of both parents to sit and have clear dialogue, preferable in the presence of local elders. Higher cut off for girls is gender bias. Thanks for bringing out some unknow facts about Ram – Sita. Bhopal case, what has been done i r o government officials responsible for factory safety etc? Has the then Factory Inspector been questioned? He is supposed to certify safety norms of any factory. I do feel this case should have been put on fast track and decided within a year at the maximum
Take care
